For me this course was very useful, i learned things that i have never done before and i think i will use them a lot. For example, i learned how to make a resumè and a cover letter, wich are things that i will neeed to find a job or during my work. It was also very important for me because i learned grammar rules that I didn’t know, and some things that i thought  i was doing right. My evaluation is 6 out of 10, because I got some poor grades during the cours because i did not dedícate enought time to the subject. I think i would change the quantity of readings for the quizes, and the order of the information in the box.

In this course I learned how to make a resumè and a cover letter and for me it was a great experience because I would like to work in USA as a cook and now I know how to make these amazing tools properly. I would change the social media because it is a poor form to evaluate us, and the percentage it's just 10%, I think it is better an essay or another evaluation. My evaluation is 5 out of 10, because I got good grades doing the tasks, but in the quizes and the exam I got a poor grade.

The course of English 5 was very interesting since in it I learned grammar rules that I didn’t know, in turn I learned how to do my résumé, a cover Letter and a Memo. The truth would not change anything of the content to this course. My own evaluation would say that it is 7 out of 10 because I didn’t dedicate the necessary time to the course because I was pending with the thesis and other courses that I enrolled.

This is the first time that I have seen an obligatory subject virtually, the previous one was an elective; since my grades on the elective one were amazing I thought that I would do the same in English V; however, it was difficult. I consider that the material is indeed useful, but I may not see its importance on my life yet, I am sure that in the future I will be grateful though.

What would I change? I think that maybe the quantity of readings for just one quiz, sometimes I got confused as the questions were very specific and I didn’t know to what article it refer to, and the media discussion to something more practical (an audio maybe).  Finally I give myself a 6, because I did not dedicate enough to English V as I did to other subjects.

For me the hardest part of the Simulation Discussion was make the video and upload it to youtube because I had to edit it and I had never edited a video before so I had to watch a video in youtube  to learn how to edit it with movie maker and upload it. The nicest part when I watch the videos of my team because  I really was laughing a lot  while I saw them acting and speaking.

Thanks to the simulation of the speech, now I got to know the numbers about the current situation; although we all identify the situation, many of us don’t know the specific numbers or important aspects of it.

In my opinion, the most difficult part was to define the script, which part would do each one, as well as was difficult to record us. On the other hand, the funniest part, but difficult too, was recording myself. I am not good at public speaking and even more if is not my official language, but despite all these barriers, I did it and I am so proud of  facing this challenge and overcome my stage fright.

Due to a lack of communication with my fellow partners, I wasn’t able to do the media discussion activity; Nevertheless, I was very surprised given the fact that this is a virtual class and we had to meet each other to work on it. I would´ve wanted to fulfill the teacher´s expectative, I am very regretful for the situation.

Conducting the simulation discussion was quite a challenge. I think the most difficult thing was that we could not get together; therefore we had to film ourselves and then edit all the videos to make the delivery; another difficult time was to find out how a publication is made on YouTube, because none of us we had been do a video in that channel. But despite all the difficulties I think the most beautiful experience was that we managed to fulfill that great challenge.

The hardest part of the Simulation Discussion was getting together to record the video, in fact, we couldn't get together so the more comfortable option for all of us was recording ourselves and then gather all the videos to make only one. The easiest part was to be recorded at home and not having to do a presentation in front of a whole classroom. Writing the script was entertaining.

I would use Social Media in Business because nowadays the use of technology has increase a lot; there are more people talking to others online than face to face. Also, the relationship employee-costumer it’s very important for a company, because this will make costumers feel confident about buying there and motives them to ask about an important issue. For that, the company will need to use Social Media to communicate their new ideas to get more attention, and also make a blog or platform where the costumers can interact with the employees, asking about doubts, problems, or simple questions about the company. In this way, Business companies will allow building a strong relationship of trust between them and people.

I consider that the use of social media at work depends on the type of business. That is to say, if it is a company that wants to announce a new product or that the purpose of the company is to sell a good or service, I think that social media is important at work since we are in an era where everything is handled with these social media. On the other hand, if the company is engaged in office work such as the engineering companies, I consider that the use of social media at business is not indispensable, it is more, and these would be a distraction.

Would you use social media in your business?

Yes.
First of all, there is a difference between personal social network´s accounts and business related accounts; however, both need to be managed correctly. If I had my own business I would let the use of social network for publicity, communication and information spread purposes, these accounts would be carefully managed by someone with enough knowledge about social networks and the consequences that a wrong decision could bring to the company’s image. When it comes to the company´s employees’ personal accounts there is nothing that I could do. Nowadays most of the young people are capable to manage their responsibilities away from their cellphones, maybe this issue was a huge problem back then when people were strangers to Social Networks and it was though that literally everything needed to be posted online; nevertheless, a set of rules wouldn’t harm a person.

There are many reasons why we should have a flawless grammar in Business English, but for me the two most important are: be considered as a respectable employer and have success in your work. The first one, a respectable employer, is because I won’t be respected if I have many mistakes writing, using wordy lines, coping and pasting all the information. The only way that I can prove I’m a professional is by showing my skills of good grammar. The other reason means If I want to be successful at work and my life, I should pay attention at every little detail when writing documents, essays, emails and presentations. It is important to worry about every word, line and phrase at writing because having a perfect grammar will guarantee a successful future.

Why having an important grammar is important?

People´s grammar knowledge is very important, but even more when it comes to written communication, since its equal to not know how to talk in oral communication; first, it expresses your dedication when it comes to little details, being careful of details is a key point in written communication and Business in general. It also gives a good image of the person who writes, the company he or she represents, and its competence. That way the message´s receptor could also perceive if the writer is situated in the context of the situation.

The hardest part of writing a resume is to organize activities that add value to the job you are choosing; on the other hand, it is difficult to remember the exact date of each activity. Another aspect that makes it difficult to make a resume is that we are students thus we do not have much experience in the work area.

Blog Activity 1: Jesús Figuera

In my opinion, the hardest parts on writing a resume are the experience listing and finding the right group of skills for the job I am applying to. As a student whose working experience is reduced to part-time jobs during childhood or teen ages, I found difficult the process of listing my own experiences, as they are not related to my career. Same case regarding the skills, my only skill related to my career is my fluently in English, since I am just beginning to study at college, I´m also starting to work on the development of another skills that I´m sure I´ll need in the future to be successful at my area.

In my opinion, the hardest part of writing a resume is the structure. There are many ways of making a resume, so you never know which one is correct. To organize the information in the proper way was also a bit difficult, because it has to keep a professional line. Furthermore, I think it was difficult to know what kind of knowledge I have about the activities. The writing is very important and essential to make a good impression, and that’s one of the reasons why a perfect resume has to be an excellent structure.

The hardest part of writting a resumè was the work experience because I had to explain what kind of cooker I am so  I searched on Internet to put it well on my resumè. Also, It was a little bit difficult to type my information in the correct way. Finally , I had to type the duties in a proper way explaining I am a prep cook because if you don't do it well, you probably won't get a good job.

The hardest part of writing a résumé was organizing all the information in the proper way; it has to keep a line to sound professional. If you respect all the guidelines established you'll have more probabilities to get the job. Also it was a little difficult for me to remember the exact dates of all the activities that I’ve made through my life. But it showed me that I have done many activities that could potentially help me when applying for a job or for the work itself.
